Here you'll find answers to the quaestions the committee gets asked most frequently.
You'll also find answers to questions about the new website so if you're having problems the look here.
If you don't find the answer to the question you want answered, and are logged in to the site, you can also send committee members your questions directly and they'll get back to you.
NOOOO!!! Our aim is to create an integrated community of young Goans. Yes people will naturally get together, that's what happens when you put guys and girls together and it's great when it happens, but it isn't our aim.
I organise venues for committee meetings, AGMs and EGMs and take minutes at each of these events; I manage the calender keeping the committee in line, ensure they are meeting deadlines and generally assist with all our events.
Talk to them, most people respond to this. He/she who dares wins!! Bite the bullet it's not that scary!!
It's cost really. Each place we use, we have to meet a bar spend. If we don't meet this, we have to pay the difference. Some places it ranges from £1,000 to £3,000 and more depending on the venues. It's a risk - we've got to balance the number of people who will come along, against the cost of the venue. Hence we'll use a cheaper venue! Any suggestions??
Depends on what type of party it is... but we will make sure you get your moneys worth.

We're run by young people, for young people, but we can't be responsible for anyone under 18! That wouldn't be fair, and could cause complications if something went wrong.
No there isn't. It's been that way from the beginning, and intentionally. We didn't want to exclude anyone, but we do say the kinds of activities we organise would generally appeal to those in their 20s. Having said that, we get people attending in their 30s - and as long as people are comfortable coming to the kind of event we organise - we'll welcome them! Being young at heart is best!
Of course - we can help support an event, promote a birthday party - whatever it is. Our web forum is designed for members to communicate with the community. If you have a project, a suggestion for day/ night out, or you're organising a charity event, use our web forum. You're also welcome to come to a committee meeting for more specific support, or contact the Events Manager if you want to get a message out to the whole group. We've got lots of resources!
We acknowledge it's not easy! We've started having New Members' Meetings every so often. This gives members who have never been to an event to come along and relax with the committee and get to meet a few other members who might feel the same as you. From there, you'll get to know some faces.
If it's your first time coming to a YLGS event, email the events manager so we know in advance. We can meet you, chat with you, and introduce you to a few other people. The rest is then up to you!
From the beginning we wanted to remain independent. We wanted to create something for young Goans run by young Goans. That gives us more flexibility to do what we want. In the future, it may be something we consider in the future - never say never!
We have a Members' Meeting every year where members can grill the committee, and input into the direction of the society. It's a huge opportunity to influence what YLGS does.
In 2001 there was nothing actually being done for young people by young people in the Goan community. YLGS was started in response to that - to bring together young Goans, and their non-Goan friends - actually - anyone who wants to come along. YLGS is now run by young Goans for young Goans and their friends. Check out our timeline.
Check you've registered on the forum, this is seperate to the main registration on the rest of the website. You can do that here
